Partey, Zinchenko, Tomiyasu - Latest Arsenal injury news and return dates for Newcastle clash

Latest Arsenal injury news with the latest in the medical room ahead of Saturday's clash with Newcastle United

by · football.london

Arsenal return to Premier League action tomorrow evening when they take on Newcastle United at the Emirates Stadium. The Gunners come into the clash on the back of Champions League frustration at Porto on Wednesday.

Galeno beautifully curled an effort into the top corner with just seconds to go at the Estadio do Dragao. Mikel Arteta's men will have to put their Portugal disappointment behind them this weekend with the latest fixture in their title race upon them.

Newcastle visit north London looking to condemn Arsenal to a huge blow in their hopes of becoming champions of England. With that being said, football.london has taken a look at the latest injury news ahead of the clash at the Emirates Stadium.

Oleksandr Zinchenko

Zinchenko hasn't played since being taken off at half-time against Liverpool last month. He didn't train with the team ahead of Porto and was not involved at all. We're expecting an update from Arteta today.

Injury: Calf.

What Arteta has said: "The update is that some of them have been progressing better than others. We have a training session today [Friday]. Some of them have done a few bits this week. I’m positive that hopefully we’re gonna get a few back for tomorrow. At the moment, no [not ruled out]."

Expected return date: Newcastle (H) - Saturday, February 24.

Fabio Vieira

Vieira was an unused substitute on Wednesday night after having surgery. He hasn't featured since November and will be hoping to be deemed fit enough to feature against Newcastle.

Injury: Groin.

What Arteta has said: "On Fabio, really happy with him but at the same time sad because just as he was building some momentum he got injured and that’s broken up his rhythm just like last season."

Expected return date: Newcastle (H) - Saturday, February, 24

Takehiro Tomiyasu

The Japan international missed the games at West Ham and Burnley despite returning from the Asian Cup a fortnight ago, before not training or travelling ahead of Porto.

Injury: Calf.

Expected return date: Newcastle (H) - Saturday, February 24.

Gabriel Jesus

He is still nursing a knee injury that has kept him out of the last four games. Jesus was left out of the squad at Turf Moor and didn't make the trip to Porto.

Injury: Knee.

Expected return date: Newcastle (H) - Saturday, February 24.

Thomas Partey

There is hope no surgery will be required and that he can return as soon as possible. He wasn't back in time to play against Porto though and didn't make the trip with his teammates.

Injury: Thigh.

What Arteta has said: "Thomas Partey is progressing really well. It’s looking very good and he’s on the field already. Hopefully [a couple of weeks.]"

Expected return date: March.

Jurrien Timber

After being included in Arsenal's Champions League squad list ahead of their last-16-tie with FC Porto this month, there is hope that he will return to action soon. He has been involved in ball training.

Injury: Knee.

What Arteta has said: "There's a possibility [he plays again this season], but at the moment he's still very far from competing. That's the realistic picture.

"Are we hopeful that he could have a realistic impact before the end of the season? If everything goes well, it looks like that might happen. At the moment, though, it's too early to make that call [one way or another]."

Expected return date: Unknown.
