It seems like we say this every week, but this is genuinely a crucial game for Arsenal. With Manchester City and Liverpool playing this weekend, the Gunners have the chance to go top. Not that you'd know it from what Mikel Arteta has been saying.

"I can't control it," he said in his pre-match press conference. I will enjoy a magnificent game of football with two of the best teams in Europe in the last decade and let's see what that brings. The focus is on us and Brentford. Privately and publicly I have no preference because it’s nothing to do with me."

Still though the Spaniard will know that keeping up this winning streak Arsenal are on is key. As a result it's crucial that he gets his team selection just right. Here football.london takes a look at the line up he could pick.

Goalkeeper - Aaron Ramsdale

With David Raya ineligible this has the potential to be Aaron Ramsdale's last game in an Arsenal shirt. This could also be his last chance to play before the Euros so he'll want to impress Gareth Southgate who will surely be watching on.(Image: Shaun Botterill/Getty Images)

Right back - Ben White

After grabbing the best goal of the night against Sheffield United on Monday Ben White's focus will be back on defending against Brentford.

Centre back - William Saliba

William Saliba had a tough time up against Ivan Toney at Emirates Stadium last year. That doesn't happen often so he'll want to put things right this time out.(Image: Sebastian Frej/MB Media/Getty Images)

Centre back - Gabriel

Alongside Saliba, Gabriel has been key to the dominance that Arsenal have had in recent matches. He could be key again this weekend.(Image: David Price/Arsenal FC via Getty Images)

Left back - Jakub Kiwior

Tomiyasu and Zinchenko are doubts once again, but once again Jakub Kiwior probably deserves to be in the team on merit. He'll want to keep up up that form on Saturday.(Image: David Price)

Defensive midfield - Declan Rice

Another game another goal for Declan Rice. His role will be a bit more defensive against Brentford given that Jorginho has been struggling with his fitness and will be necessary against Porto on Tuesday. Expect him to still be crucial though.(Image: (Photo by James Gill - Danehouse/Getty Images))

Central midfield - Martin Odegaard

Odegaard continues to play every minute and still his form doesn't dip. The Norwegian is playing arguably his best football in an Arsenal shirt and he'll want to keep that up.(Image: Marc Atkins/Getty Images)

Central midfield - Kai Havertz

Kai Havertz is in his best form of the season at the moment. The confidence levels he's showing are exactly what Arteta always hoped he would get to. In a more withdrawn midfield role he can still make the difference against Brentford.

Right wing - Bukayo Saka

Bukayo Saka was struggling with a bit of illness in the build up to the Sheffield United game. He's recovered now and should be alright to start against Brentford.(Image: Stuart MacFarlane/Arsenal FC via Getty Images)

Centre forward - Leandro Trossard

The Belgian has been coming off the bench the past couple of games, but with Gabriel Jesus being managed very carefully, expect him to come back in up front. Especially given the rejig in midfield.(Image: Visionhaus/Getty Images)

Left wing - Gabriel Martinelli

The Brazilian came off on Monday night with a cut on his foot. There does seem a hope that he should be OK for Brentford despite that setback.(Image: Julian Finney/Getty Images)
